The new illustrated alphabet Part 8: H is for HOPE.
Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large. To want something, somehow to be true. Hope is a bit on an abstract investment in an unclear future. The light at the end of the tunnel.
As a verb, its definitions include: "expect with confidence" and "to cherish a desire with anticipation." Seems reasonable to me.
It gets mentioned a lot in the Koran, Jewish and Christian Bibles, and other fictional accounts of the spiritual aspects of human history, not helpful but illustrative of how religion peddles "pie in the sky" as a reasonable explanation for the vague and unclear movements of a detached god who isn't actually there in any obvious form.
